Over the past 10 years technology has allowed for a deeper understanding of the impact trauma has on the brain and the role of the central nervous system. Clients who previously would plateau in therapy or move from therapist to therapist are now finding hope and healing as past experiences are integrated with here and now responses, freeing them from unexplained patterns in behavior or relationships. Mental Health professionals are in a unique position to nurture resiliency in clients as they explore the somatic and psychotherapeutic reactions and interventions to support clients in healing and recovery from trauma. Countless books have been written on the topic; this training will help put the research into action and provide tangible strategies participants can implement immediately. Participants in this training will obtain an understanding of the important role the brain and central nervous system have in fostering resilience in clients with complex trauma. Specific interventions will be discussed to foster safety and incorporate the somatic experience into the therapy session.
