Comprehensive Victim Interviewing: Helping Victims Retrieve and Disclose Traumatic Memories

For victims who report sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other traumatic incidents, the purpose of an investigative interview is to help them:

(1) Retrieve details of the traumatic event from memory, and

(2) Disclose these details to an investigator.

This purpose is the same regardless of whether the interview is conducted by law enforcement, Title IX investigators, Human Resources personnel, or others.

CVI Program

EVAWI has developed an intensive 2-day virtual course in Comprehensive Victim Interviewing and investigations. This course is led by national experts including veteran law enforcement investigators, and it is offered online with a high-performance technology platform, providing CVI participants plenty of opportunities to interact with presenters and other attendees.

Survivor Interviews

Perhaps the most powerful aspect of the course is the opportunity for participants to watch recorded interviews with sexual assault survivors conducted by skilled investigators following best practices, including accompaniment by a victim advocate.
