At the DC Coalition to End Sexual Violence, we believe that ending sexual violence requires not only a shared commitment but also shared knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Through our comprehensive training and capacity-building programs, we support member organizations, allied professionals, and community partners in developing the tools they need to provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive services.
Together, these training and convening opportunities strengthen the collective capacity of the District’s response to sexual violence and move us closer to a safer, more just DC.
Training and Capacity Building
-
We offer regular trainings designed to build the capacity of direct service providers, advocates, and prevention educators. These sessions address emerging issues, evolving best practices, and policy updates relevant to the DC landscape. Topics may include trauma-informed care, culturally accessible service delivery, legal and systems advocacy, prevention programming, and organizational wellness.
-
DCCESV hosts intensive, multi-day Training Institutes for allied professionals across sectors, including healthcare, education, housing, law enforcement, and more. These institutes are designed to deepen understanding of sexual violence and equip participants with the practical tools and cross-disciplinary frameworks necessary to effectively support survivors in their roles.
-
Our quarterly Coalition Meetings bring together member organizations and stakeholders to share updates, discuss collective goals, and align strategies for systems-level change. These meetings serve as a collaborative space for community-building, resource sharing, and policy coordination.
