The DC Coalition to End Sexual Violence (DCCESV) leads coordinated policy and advocacy efforts to improve the District’s response to sexual violence and support for survivors.
Through regular coalition meetings and strategic roundtables, DCCESV fosters collaboration among service providers, advocates, and government partners to identify pressing issues and advance collective solutions. Through the Survivor Advisory Council, the Coalition works to shape legislative priorities and inform system-level change. The Coalition also tracks and analyzes local and federal legislation in real time, equipping members with timely information, resources, and tools for effective advocacy.
Policy and
Advocacy
-
Survivor voices are at the heart of the DC Coalition to End Sexual Violence’s work and that of our members and stakeholders. DCCESV’s Survivor Advisory Council consists of survivors of sexual violence whose feedback and perspectives provide guidance and grounding for everything we do, from reviewing and commenting on proposed policies and legislation to guiding outreach strategies to providing feedback about the best way to support member services.
-
DCCESV hosts regular one-on-one and small group coalition meetings to build relationships, assess emerging issues, and collaboratively identify key policy and advocacy priorities. These meetings serve as a structured space for members to share challenges they face on the ground, elevate the needs of survivors in their communities, and help shape the Coalition’s legislative and systems advocacy agenda.
